Anxiety:

Do you feel fearful?  Do you have a nagging sense of something bad is going to happen?  Do you worry and fret about things?  Do others say that you worry too much?  Do you have difficulty sleeping at night because you cannot shut down your thoughts?  You may be suffering from an anxiety disorder.  Anxiety affects millions of Americans.

There are several different types of anxiety disorders:

Panic disorder:  People experiencing a panic attack often feel like they are having a heart attack.  They experience tightness in their chest, difficulty breathing, tingling in their arms, hands, neck or face, and often become light headed.  A panic attack is a very frightening experience and people often go to the emergency ward believing they are dying or having some sort of heart problem.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder: People who seem to worry constantly about everything from their job, to their health, their families, and the world usually have a generalized anxiety disorder.  This is the type of anxiety that many people are able to function with even though it is creating problems in their lives.

Social Anxiety Disorder: People experiencing social anxiety disorder have overwhelming anxiety and excessive self-consciousness in everyday social situations. Social phobia can range from single situations to more broad or general fears.  Single phobias may be situations such as fear of speaking or performing in front of people, or eating with others present.  Generalized social anxiety disorder may be seen as a person who experiences symptoms almost anytime they are around other people.
