Depression……what is it?
Depression is an illness
that involves the body, mood, and thoughts. It affects all aspects of a person’s
life including eating, sleeping, response to physical illness, job, family, and
finances. Depression is not the same as simply feeling down or being in a sad
mood. It is not a sign of weakness. It can not be willed or wished away. People
with depression cannot merely "pull themselves together" and get better. Without
treatment, symptoms can last for weeks, months, or years. Appropriate treatment,
however, can help most people who suffer from depression.
